ALPHA MU of ALPHA GAMMA RHO REUNION HOME

Greetings. Welcome to the website constructed for the sole purpose of reuniting the brotherhood of Alpha Mu of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, which existed at Rutgers University from 1952 until 1967. I am attempting to contact as many surviving brothers as possible and hopefully generate enough interest to organize a reunion for the entire Alpha Mu brotherhood. I am utilizing public search engines and personal contact to compile a current contact list. I will be posting that contact information to a password protected spreadsheet on this site. Only brothers of Alpha Mu will have access to the spreadsheet, and all brothers will be notified before their email addresses are posted. Almost every brother that I have had responses from so far has indicated a desire to reconnect with long lost friends, and I believe this database will help accomplish that.

I started with a 1983 directory from the National, which listed 139 brothers. I added another 19 from memory, so I knew that directory was not complete. Being from 1983, many addresses are no longer valid. And Al Gore hadn't invented the internet yet, so no email addresses were listed. Using Google, I started searching and coming up with email addresses, emailing brothers and getting replies. Ron Fraoli, RU '68, sent me a database listing 238 men that had been initiated into Alpha Mu. I believe the list is fairly complete. It was compiled using public sources, but many of the listed addresses are outdated and there are only a few email addresses, which I will not post on this site until I have verified them and have received acknowledgement that it is okay to post them. I'm also asking every brother to pass on any email addresses or other contact information for other brothers that they have maintained contact with. If anybody wants to jump in and help fill in the blanks, that would be great.

Now that I've told you what I'm doing on this site, I'll tell you who I am and what I've done since I graduated from RU in 1967. I'm Joe Musumeci, and I was initiated into AGR in 1964. I own and operate Eastern Seed Services, LLC.

After graduation I returned to work on the family farm. Three weeks later I remembered why I left the farm and went to Rutgers, so I enlisted in the Army and reported for Basic Training at Ft Leonard Wood, MO in Feb. '68. A year later, after Basic, AIT, Field Artillery OCS and Air Defense OBC, I was on a plane going to serve in Italy for 2 years, babysitting 16 nuclear warheads. I also managed to spend time in ten European countries, and spent many hours skiing the Alps or lying on the beach of the Adriatic, just south of Venice, two blocks from my apartment. A week before my end of active duty, my dad died. Upon arriving home I was convinced to help my brother operate the two farms. I married my wife, Helen, in Dec 1974. In 1975, daughter Tami arrived, followed by Joe, Jr. in 1979. While farming, I got involved with numerous Ag organizations and at one time or another served as president, director or chairman of each. By Christmas 1986 I realized that even though I was successful at my occupation, I was doing a lousy job of being a father, because I was averaging 80 hours a week, year round, away from my wife and kids. So I went to work for a small local seed company and soon became a partner in the company. Eleven years later my partner retired and I sold my half of the company to another individual and went to work for that individual. Five years later, in 2002, I started Eastern Seed Services, LLC and have been having a great time providing seed processing and seed technology to seed companies and growers. I've been fortunate to stumble upon a few seed separation and treating techniques that have put me in a situation where I can't afford to advertise. It's not that I don't have enough money to advertise, it's because I have more than enough work to keep me busy and have no desire to expand the company. After leaving farming, I was able to coach my son's soccer team, serve on the local school board, and attend every cross country meet, track meet, and school play and musical that both kids participated in. I also helped both of them get great educations. Tami received her PhD from Rutgers in 2008 and is teaching Psychology at RU in New Brunswick and Rider University in Trenton. She taught over 900 students last semester, but is taking it easy this semester with only about 750! My son in law graduated from Rutgers and Rutgers Law School this past May and works for the Port Authority of NY/NJ. Joe graduated from Georgetown and then got his MBA from Loyola. He's a CPA in Chicago with his own tax / auditing business. My daughter in law also graduated from Georgetown and then went on to get an RN degree from Johns Hopkins. She's a nurse at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Helen retired from teaching last November. She spent the last 16 years of her career as a testing coordinator in the Adult Basic Ed Dept at our local Community College. I'm in the process of training individuals to take over my company so that I can retire in 2014.

I'm anxious to hear back from as many brothers as possible to find out what each of you has done since your days on the banks. I hope you find this site informative and useful, and welcome any suggestions toward its improvement. I look forward to getting together with all of you in the near future.
